Your entire social network and support system are tied to your religious beliefs. Usually, all your friends are from the congregation and your entire family are JW’s. Being a JW is not just being in a religion, it is the taking up of a lifestyle. The important thing to know about Jehovah’s Witnesses is that religion, for them, isn’t just about going to church on Sunday every once in a while. I was born and raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. So bear with me as I try to articulate an abridged history. In order to understand my coming out story, it is crucial for you to understand where I come from.
